The Fakahatchee Grind is an opportunity to ride your Gravel bike or mountain bike through one of the most diverse and unique ecosystems in the state. The chance of you seeing a panther on this ride is in your favor.
This will be the Sixth Running of the Fakahatchee grind, and in honor of this momentous occasion, we are offering qualified riders the Opportunity to ride a 250-mile route that starts and ends at Fakahatchee.
The entries for the 250-mile option will be done in a lottery format. There will be 50 lottery tickets available at 10$ each. The catch is only 30 folks will be randomly selected to be able to participate in the first running of this route.
In the event you are not selected, you will be able to get a 10$ credit to participate in one of the other routes offered during the event.
Riders who are planning on participating in the 250-mile option will be expected to start on Friday, April 3rd at 12 pm.
Start Location, Fakahatchee event field (the next left turn past the park visitor center entrance)
We are starting at Fakahatchee HQ and they are offering camping for five dollars a night per person. Camping will be available for Friday, April 3rd and Saturday, April 4th. This is a spectacular opportunity to camp in one of the most unique habitats in the southeast. All Camping is primitive with water & bathrooms available. RV's and Campers are welcome, but be advised there are no hookups.
Optimized Routes.
The Full Grind will be an estimated 85 miles total
The Half Grind will be an estimated 64 Miles total.
The Back Country is one of my favorites, the terrain is rough, but the route is incredible. Estimated 45 Miles in total.
The Fakahatchee 250 is a Monster route that takes you From Fakahatchee to the Eastern Edge of Big Cypress and back!
All Courses except for the 250-mile option will be marked. In order to navigate the 250-mile route, you will need a GPS capable of handling a route upload.
There will be 1 lunch stop and 2 Sag stops for the long route riders and one additional sag stop for the half grind and backcountry riders.
Routes will be emailed to riders after registration is completed about one month before the event.
