Bikepack the River of Grass on the longest mostly off-road route in Southern Florida.

Inspired by the original Big Cypress/Everglades explorer Wes Wilkins, this route was created to showcase the river of grass corridor. In fact, the name Pa-Hay-Okee is the Native word for the area.
This route was just finalized and conceptualized in 2021`, a dozen people have attempted it and only one has completed it so far. One of the biggest challenges of the route is the exposure to the sun and the wind and the fact that it has to be done late in the season to catch some of the premier areas while things are dry.
Route info will be provided to those who commit to attending. Route info is just a file and waypoints, no guide as of yet as even I haven't had the chance to ride the entire route in one go. Part of the reason I am heading out on May 2nd is to take photos to showcase the route and to write the guide.
There are two routes available. The only difference between the two is one takes you through the heart of the northern big cypress and virtually eliminates 30 miles of pavement. Riders who commit to ride and register will have access to both and are free to ride either or change their mind if water levels are too high.
The recommended donation amount to commit is 10$, but any additional $ is always appreciated.
The route starts and ends at the Big Cypress Oasis visitor center as it's a relatively safe place to leave the car. Both route options are 264 miles, although low on mileage this will still be a tough challenge as logistics and restocks have to be planned carefully. It is highly recommended that riders carry nearly 200 ounces or a gallon of water between restocks.
So if you're feeling brave then sign up, if not wait till next year!
If enough riders join, I will get the event tracked on trackleaders.com and this will abide by standard self-supported rules and guidelines
