Join us on this awe-inspiring bikepacking overnight trip as we traverse the beautiful and diverse terrain of the Goethe State Forest. This ride is a true 24-hour journey beginning midday on Saturday with the intention of having an evening visit with the Goethe Giant, a 907-year-old Bald Cypress tree.
This is the third and last of my Overnight series. On our way to visit the Giant, we will stop by the famous Hershel Store for refreshments and supplies. Our primitive camp that evening will be at the Tidewater.
Ride information will be shared via email, about one month before the start. Participants will receive an invite to an RWGPS event. RSVP to the event allows riders to export the route info and/or use the app to navigate the route without requiring a subscription to the app. Once the information is shared, there are no refunds. All riders will receive a commemorative patch to memorialize the ride.
The best bike for this ride is the bike you currently have, the course should be doable on any bike that can handle off-road riding.
Some important things to consider:
This is a self-supported ride.
There will be no support vehicles or sag wagons.
Be sure to check the weather forecast before you ride.
Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back.
Have fun!
Hope to see everyone for this incredible ride!
