Last year we started the Summer Dirt Road Riding series and it was a huge hit. So this year we brought it back. Three rides all similar vibe. Each ride is 25$ or join the Summer Camp series and do all three for 60$. Due to the way Eventbrite works, I only entered the event date for the last ride, each event is on a different day, read the details below for clarification.
These are party pace, low-pressure, choose-your-own-adventure dirt road rides that take riders in a loop and in one case an out and back. The majority of the terrain on all these rides is limestone roads or hardpack dirt.
Once you are registered for the ride, a few weeks before the ride, you will get a link to an RWGPS event, follow the simple steps to drop the route right into your app under the “my events” tab. Using this feature allows you to use the app for navigation or export the gpx for loading directly into your preferred unit with no additional subscriptions or membership cost.
Remember, This is an unsupported ride. There will be no support vehicles or sag wagons.
Be sure to check the weather forecast before you ride.
Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back.
Have fun!
There will be a small memento provided for each ride, what the memento is will be solely based on how many folks register!
Dirt Road Ride #1 Gateway to 100K, 5/18/2023, High Springs Florida, 62 miles 8 am Roll Out
There will be two well-spaced store stops, one at mile marker 28 and the other at mile marker 50. With the 8 am early start, the goal is to wrap up the ride by 1 pm, giving folks plenty of time to visit the beautiful stores, restaurants, and brewery in the town of High Springs. If that doesn't strike your interest, pack a lunch and hit the Santa Fe River or any of the several springs that are just a stone's throw from town. Last year we had bomb pops at a specific stop, I see bomb pops again in our future! Last year we had a huge after-ride hangout at High Springs Brewery.
Dirt Road Ride #2 Charles Spring Swim,7/28/23, Mayo Florida, 68 Miles 8 am Roll Out
As the name implies this ride has a swim at Charles Spring on the Suwannee River. Surf some beautiful dirt, then get wet at mile marker 55 with abundant restock options along the way.
Dirt Road Ride #3 Dixie Mainline Ramble, 8/10/23, Suwanee Florida, 76 miles 8 am Roll Out
There are several ways to tackle this route. You are welcome to join me as I plan to ride to Fiddler's Resort, eat a meal, and then come back. But several store options just off the route that would shorten the one-way distance and a restaurant right on the route where you could stop grab some refreshments and then head back. You could also coordinate with a friend to leave a car in Steinhatchee and make this a one-way-30-something-mile adventure. Depending on time, I may break off the route on the way back to go for a swim at Shired Island. I recommend everyone ride at whatever pace they like, go fast, or go slow, just enjoy the experience.
Info for start location parking will be sent for each event via the same email that will contain the route information.
